Documentary Club

Ok all - another month, another film. We didn't really come to a consensus on a film last month as there wasn't a lot of participation in the forum on what we wanted to see. So for now I will leave it up to you and this forum but if we can't make up our minds. Doc and I will just pick one. We're considering doing a screening of Nerdcore Rising in DC this month - which any of you can do through the film's website for free just by registering with B Side Entertainment. Our very own Doc Pop was featured in the film I do believe (yes, beside being a doc lover, a yo yo champion, and a multifaceted artist/comic illustrator/etc. he's also a Nerdcore rapper).

If this is of any interest to you - let me know and I'll provide the details.

Otherwise - please let us know what kind of documentary you'd like to watch/discuss. I'd like to get as many of involved int his process as possible. I'm proud to see that we've got over 150 members now and glad to see groups like the Winston Salem meetup group flourishing. Let's keep it going on and off line.

So - 1) Let's pick a film 2) Let's watch it 3) Let's discuss

Cheers!

For anyone contemplating Nerdcore Rising, here's a trailer link :-) http://www.nerdcorerisingmovie.com/ ...dude looks like a guy I went to grad school with..whoa...and who wouldn't be up for Wierd Al or Segways?... Sounds good to me!

Also, I am planning to see Visual Acoustics which opens Friday- so I'll throw that out there :-)

I really want to do the nerd movie some way or the other.

This Friday there is a "works in progress screening" at GW - I'm not able to attend, but encourage others to because it's always a fascinating discussion and view into the filmmaking process:

I'm a little hesitant to suggest this because it's $20 and I know times are hard. However, it is a fundraiser for a group that does alot to support documentaries and filmmakers. Our group could meet at a restaurant nearby beforehand if so desired. I am definitely going to this - please contact me if you'd like to meet up before hand:

Too tired to figure out if there's a better place to post this, but for a nice summary of current documentaries screening in the DC area:
